God's
Leading
It
has been my privilege to serve here in Hungary as
the Academic Dean and one of our main resident
Bible teachers. These three years have been
somewhat transitory, as well as preparatory for me
to become a part of our full-time Bible School
staff. As part of this transition process, I was
fully supported as a short-term missionary, but
under supported as a full-time missionary. During
the previous three summers, I have worked on
further developing my support and have made
significant progress towards that end. As you very
well know I have recently become engaged to a
godly young lady, who desires to serve with me
here in Hungary. This means that my support
situation is dramatically impacted by moving from
single to married-staff status. This impacts my
salary, insurance, furlough funds and many other
areas. After meeting with the Director of our
Bible Institute and the Director of Word of Life
Hungary we came to a mutual consensus that it
would be best for me to return to the States in
June of 2006, remain until my wedding on December
16th and continue developing our support until we
reach 100%. This is a very lofty goal since we
will need to raise nearly triple the support that
I presently possess. Jill and I are praying that
this year of support raising will allow us to
return to Hungary for the beginning of the
2007-2008 school year.
Immediate Needs Given the fact
that starting this summer I will be in the States
for at least one year, I will need to find a
part-time job that will be flexible enough to
allow Jill and me the ability to travel and raise
support on the weekends. I will also need to
acquire a vehicle and find a place to live until
December 16th and then a place for Jill and me to
live after the wedding until we return to Hungary.
Please join us in praying for the Lord's provision
of these immediate needs. Although we are open to
whatever the Lord has in store for us, presently
our plans are to use Columbus, Indiana as our
home-base. Columbus is where both Jill and I grew
up and where our sending church is located.
Principles of Bible Teaching
Although Jill and I are very excited
about the future, we have a very eventful and busy
present. Jill is continuing to take classes here
at our Bible Institute in Hungary, and soon she
will be a member of my New Testament Survey class.
Please pray for her :) One of my favorite tasks
each week is teaching a new course I have
developed entitled Principles of Bible
Teaching. This is a course that is for our
interns (most of whom are pictured below). We
spend time each week studying the methods that
Christ the master-teacher used. It is a very
interactive course, and I am learning along with
them. It is great fun! Some of the principles we
are learning include: 1-He aroused curiosity from
the beginning. 2-He used contrast to emphasize his
message. 3-He got His pupils actively involved in
the learning process. 4-He used object lessons.
5-He took advantage of teachable moments. 6-He
masterfully used thought provoking questions. The
purpose of this course is to encourage creativity
in order to make the Bible alive and exciting as
God intended it to be, as exemplified in the
teaching of the God-man Christ Jesus.
